Our Society is committed to helping local schools with their school vegetable gardens. This might meet donating plants, compost, giving time and support. We recently gave plants to Titahi Bay School and help with planting. The school Enviro Leaders were very keen gardeners.
Our Society has donated a Big Mac sturdy seat to go on the bank just above the beach, next to the Surf Club. This is in constant use by parents and little children, grand parents, or people enjoying a picnic or the wonderful views. We are very pleased to be able to help the community in this way.
Our November meeting was great fun. There were a number of activities available and in each members could make creations - pumice hangings, paua shell gardens, drift wood gardens with shells, sea weed and succulents and lots more.
Our last competition of the year had a great number of entries. it is good to see new competitors in the Novice section. The members present at the meeting vote for their top choice in every category. At the end of the year the overall winner gets a engraved plate and a garden voucher and 2nd to 5th place getters get a prize.
